Intracyclic speed of breaststroke swimmers of various qualifications

Abstract
Changes in the instantaneous speed during the cycle of movements in swimming are one of the objective quantitative criteria used in the analysis of the technique. In breaststroke, intra-cycle speed fluctuations are the greatest among the sports swimming methods, and the dynamics picture is not the same for different variants of the technique. The analysis of the dynamics of the intra-cycle speed of 5 breaststroke swimmers of various qualifications by the method of hydro acoustic speedography was carried out. Differences in the structure of motor actions of the subjects were established. The average speed of swimming is significantly correlated with the coefficients of hydrodynamic quality factor (r = 0.560–0.679), the variability of the intra-cycle speed (r = –0.651) and the minimum speed in the cycle of movements (r = 0.642).
