Abstract
The article presents the comparative analysis of the development of physical culture in Russia, which links different historical moments. This text describes how the formation of higher education for the training of specialists in the field of physical culture took place and their historical role in the pre-conscription and military training of young people and physical culture as an educational subject in higher educational institutions of Russia. The authors, based on their work experience, show the attitude to the discipline of physical culture in higher educational institutions of the early twentieth century and today. The question of the construction of the educational process in physical culture in modern conditions is touched upon. Conclusions are drawn about the need to preserve and apply historical experience for the adolescent poking.
