Abstract
The article substantiates the main provisions of the innovative model of sports - sports for health and recreation. The purpose of the research is to characterize the mass sports competitions of students "Team-group" and substantiate its importance as a method of student sports for health and recreation. Research methodology and organization – conducting a pedagogical experiment on the basis of the university: organizing sports competitions with the participation of students of the main and special medical departments on the basis of the innovative principles of the "Team-group" program as a method of student sports for health and recreation. Research results and their discussion. As a result of the study, the statement was substantiated that the organization of sports competitions among students on the basis of the innovative principles of the "Team-group" program as a method of student sports for health and recreation contributes to: a full and effective solution of the problems of physical education of students: health improvement, holistic personality development and training her for future professional activities, the creation of humane social relations of students by means of physical culture and sports; increasing the mass participation of students in competitions; orientation of students to the norms of pro-social behavior, to spiritual and moral values, including the principles of fair play, in the course of games and competitions. Conclusions. Theoretical provisions and experimental data allow us to evaluate the mass competition "Team-group" as an important method of student sports for health and recreation.
