Abstract
The article revealed indicators that determine the effectiveness of the process of professional development of cadets in universities of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. These include: a high level of methodological and professional training of teachers; Good knowledge of teaching techniques for cadets; knowledge of communication skills with cadets; well-developed skills of psychological influence on cadets taking into account their temperament. It is also important to take into account in the professional development of cadets the specifics of their activities after graduation, as well as the ability to arouse and maintain interest in future professional activities among cadets.
