Abstract
Among the predictors of the success of the implementation of the dancer training process, one can single out aesthetic, physical and psychological qualities. Despite the importance of psychological qualities, in practice they are not taken into professional choreographic educational institutions. Taking into account the laboriousness of the selection system in choreography, seems necessary to introduce integral techniques that allow, in a short time, to carry out the most comprehensive assessment of the applicant. Existing research shows that among graduates of professional choreographic educational institutions, there is a certain pattern of somatotypes according to the Heath-Carter method of somatotyping (1990). Meanwhile, the researchers do not take into account the psychological component of this scheme, which makes it possible to consider it as an integral component of selection in choreography. The theoretical significance of the work lies in substantiating the possibility of using psychological criteria at the stage of professional selection in the system of professional choreographic education using the Heath-Carter method of somatotyping (1990).
Keywords: initial professional selection, choreography, ballet, psychological qualities, Heath-Carter.
