Efficiency of independent work in the students’ professional training at the agrarian university

Abstract
Since the modern society sets before the higher school the task of preparing the thinking and able to obtain independently the knowledge and skills the graduate necessary for practical activity, it is quite natural to consider independent work as a huge reserve that must be effectively used. Based on the analysis of the psychological, pedagogical and methodological literature, the clarification of the concept of independent work is given, in the course of the study (questionnaire, performance of independent work); the average level of development of independence among the first-year students was revealed. The urgency of the problem is due to the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standards (FSES) of higher professional education. The purpose of the work is to analyze the forms of organization, methods of management and control of independent work of students, studying the foreign language at a non-linguistic university. The study of the issue makes it possible to determine the conditions that will contribute to the development of the effectiveness of independent work in the professional training of students of the agrarian university.
