Abstract
The study of special literature on the problem of research has shown that in modern classical volleyball, the success of teams in competitions of various levels is largely determined by the effectiveness of the game in defense. The purpose of the study is to improve the effectiveness of the game in defense by improving the tactical and technical actions of volleyball players in defense. The research material is based on the analysis of the results of pedagogical observations with elements of video shooting for competitive activities of highly qualified volleyball players. Low performance indicators of the defense game in practical volleyball indicate the relevance of this study. Defensive tactical and technical actions in volleyball are strictly determined by the tactical and technical activity of the attacking player and take place in the form of three phases: preparatory, working and final. The most significant for improving the effectiveness of defensive actions is the preparatory phase of the game in defense, which has the longest time range. High-quality indicative activity of the volleyball player in this phase determines the success of receiving spikes of the rival.
Keywords: volleyball, defensive actions, spike, efficiency, approximate activity, defensive player.
