Informetrics-based diagnostics of students’ competencies and personal professional qualities

The article substantiates that it is infometrics that can and should be the scientific basis for diagnosing the student’s competencies and personal professional qualities as the results of his or her personal and professional development. It is known that the competitiveness of an individual is determined by the level (formation) of his or her competencies and personal and professional qualities, as subsystems of social and professional competence. Currently, they are increasingly actively developing methods of objective diagnostics of all components of competencies and personal professional qualities – operational (the combination of knowledge and skills), motivational and value (motives for the relevant activities, value attitude towards them), as well as behavioral (personal experience of the corresponding activity). Having analyzed the existing criteria for the formation of competencies (personal and professional qualities) and their components, as well as proposing new ones, the authors of this article came to the conclusion that the diagnostics of social and professional competence and its components should be an independent direction of infometrics; this is due to the fact that the students’ personal and professional development is an informational process. The theoretical significance of the results of this study lies in the possibility of further scientific understanding of the problems of the person’s becoming competitive in the system of continuous education; the practical significance is in the possibility of their use in pedagogical monitoring systems.
