Impact of online physical education classes on student physical performance under self-isolation

Abstract
To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation, the self-isolation regime was introduced in March 2020. The process of studying at universities was transferred to remote mode. In such conditions, the use of remote educational technologies, including for the practical disciplines, has acquired particular relevance. Distance technologies in education were used before that, but were used in a small amount, and conducting online physical education classes for many universities turned out to be the innovation. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of distance classes in physical culture on the performance of students at the university under the self-isolation mode. The study from March to June 2020 involved 254 people (n = 254), 82 girls and 172 boys. Cardiovascular and respiratory indicators were analyzed using special tests. Thus, performance control was carried out among students. Self-control indicators, motor activity and health indicators were also taken into account. In the course of the study, it was found that during distance learning, students' level of working capacity decreases and the general state of health deteriorates. In the current context of the complex epidemiological situation in the Russian Federation, such research using a scientific approach was carried out for the first time. The results of the study indicate the need for regular monitoring of the functional state of students, when conducting physical education classes online. It is recommended to carry out a timely correction of loads in order to avoid the negative impact of physical activity deficiency in self-isolation conditions.
