This article is aimed at identifying the main causes of the low level of the social and physical health of the modern youth. According to the authors, the situation, in particular, is due to the fact that the study of the physical and social health of the population is multifaceted, integrative and multi-stage in nature, and that many parts of the subject of this article go beyond the competence of the specialists in the physical culture industry. Thus, the widespread notion of the possibility of the quick qualitative change in the people's health by simply increasing motor activity is fundamentally wrong and groundless. A deeper study of what takes part in the formation of a healthy, independent and self-sufficient person, a true citizen is necessary – all this is possible only because of using the entire social potential of the public. The publication substantiates the need for a full-fledged integrated impact on the emerging personality in order to preserve, strengthen health, as well as the conditions that are necessary in the modern community in order to set a positive vector for the situation in the near future. The provisions set forth in the article are capable of contributing to the solution of the problem through a dual assessment to achieve a high potential for physical and social public health.
