Abstract
Over the past few decades, many studies have appeared, concerning power indices and related applied issues of participants’ influence, both in large international alliances and in local management organizations, to election processes and, as a result, to decision-making processes. At the same time, no studies have been found devoted to the power indices in sports. This article is considering some power indices and their practical application in the analysis of basketball games. The scientific novelty of the research presented in this paper is due to the fact that, for the first time, the influence indices were used to evaluate the performance of basketball players.
Keywords: basketball, analysis of basketball statistics, game theory, power indices, power indexes.
