The article presents the study devoted to the development and verification of the effectiveness of the method of functional training of hockey players aged 20-22 years. The scientific novelty of the presented research is that the experimental method was developed with the need of increasing functionality, which was implemented through the targeted development of energy systems of the body, in particular, the aerobic, aerobic-anaerobic and anaerobic-glycolytic mechanisms, which required use of the divergent means and methods in the functional training of hockey players, including those, aimed at the development of the physical endurance, aerobic capacity, overall speed and strength endurance, as foundation for the specific one.
Keywords: functional training of hockey players, aerobic, aerobic-anaerobic and anaerobic-glycolytic mechanisms of energy supply, transition period of the annual training cycle, general preparatory stage of the annual training cycle, speed endurance, power endurance.
