Over the past five years, women's wrestling has undergone a number of changes and innovations. Transformation of the rules and conditions of the competition, increasing the requirements for the level of preparedness of athletes determine the search for new approaches to the construction of the training process. The purpose of the study was to develop a methodology for preparing a sports reserve in women's freestyle wrestling for athletes at the training stage of sports training. We suggested that the methodology for preparing a sports reserve in women's freestyle wrestling, based on the distribution of the training load in accordance with changes in the working capacity of the body, for athletes of the training phase, will increase the effectiveness of training and competitive activity. Realization of the research objective was carried out by using the following methods: theoretical analysis and synthesis of scientific data, questionnaires, method of pedagogical testing, method of pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment, statistical processing of results. The study was conducted on the basis of the State budgetary institution of the Astrakhan region Sports School named after Kuznetsova. The pedagogical experiment was carried out during the 2018-2019 school year, the first half of which was aimed at selecting the most optimal means and methods of sports training, which subsequently formed the basis of our methodology, and then, for five months during the training sessions, the methodology developed by us was tested. The study involved athletes – girls 16-17 years old, engaged in women's freestyle wrestling, consisting of 16 people who were divided into the experimental and control groups. The results of the competitive activity and the test complex to identify the level of physical fitness showed the effectiveness of the developed methodology, higher indicators of the experimental group prove this over the control for each test at the end of the study.
