Publication Ethics


The editors of the Scientific theory journal "Uchenye zapiski universiteta imeni P.F. Lesgafta" in its activities follows the principles of publication ethics, developed on the basis of international standards: and principles of publication ethics adopted by the Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers (Russia) (Declaration of the Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers “Ethical Principles of Scientific Publications”)

The editors of the journal «Uchenye zapiski universiteta imeni P.F. Lesgafta» observes:
  • Ethics of journal:
   - the publication of the journal materials is carried out at the expense of the authors, the journal is not engaged in advertising;
   - the journal publishes articles in Russian and English;
   - the journal does not accept for publication previously published material, including translated articles;
   - the journal selects materials that meet the requirements for publishing accepted in the journal, criteria that meet the standards of scientific ethics, as well as legal requirements: avoid libel, copyright and plagiarism, self-plagiarism, falsification of materials, etc.;
   - the journal evaluates the materials received for publication based on the principle of an unbiased attitude to race, gender, ethnic origin, citizenship, and the political and religious views of the author;
   - all publications received in the journal undergo double blind peer review, based on the decision of qualified experts - specialists on the topic of publication who prepare reviews of the material submitted for publication, a decision on the publication, rejection or sending for revision of the material within a month from the moment of its receipt;
   - in the case of a decision to publish, the magazine notifies the author of the timing of the issue of the number from the printing house, in the case of a decision to reject and send for revision, it provides sufficient justification for this decision - reviews of the material sent;
   - all materials received for publication are tested in the system of verification of borrowed material;
   - all substantiated ethical complaints received by the journal regarding submitted or previously published materials: consideration, discussion of complaints with the management bodies of the Journal, publication of corrections, refutations or relevant statements, are discussed at meetings of the editorial board and drawn up by a decision signed by the Editor-in-Chief;
   - Редакция Журнала оставляет за собой право на проведение процедуры ретракции статей. Под ретракцией понимается изъятие поданных в Журнал материалов в следующих случаях:
1) the identification of facts of fabrication or falsification of the data presented in the article,
2) the detection in it of unreasonable (neither in fact, nor in volume) borrowings (plagiarism, self-plagiarism), falsifications of materials;
3) retraction can be carried out both during the editorial work on the article and after the publication of the manuscript (in the event that it became known about the above facts later). In this case, the retraction of the article is made both from the Journal and from its official website, as well as from the scientific databases where the article was uploaded. The relevant information is published by the Journal on the official website;
- the journal does not disclose information about the submitted materials to anyone else, with the exception of the author, reviewers and the editorial board;
- the journal does not use materials sent for publication in its own work by editors, reviewers, and other employees involved in the work with the manuscript.
  • ethics of authorship of scientific publications;
   - The author of the materials submitted for publication in the Journal should justify the relevance of his research, its originality, guarantee the accuracy of the data presented in the material confirming the results achieved, the objectivity of the study. The author’s manuscript should contain elements of scientific novelty and / or practical significance and their justification, both on the basis of theoretical considerations and conducted pedagogical experiments.
   - The author guarantees the originality of the materials presented, filling out quotes from other authors and a list of references in accordance with GOST R 7.0.100– 2018.
   -  The author guarantees the absence of any forms of scientific plagiarism, self-plagiarism, falsification of materials in the submitted materials. 
   -  The author guarantees that the material submitted for publication is not at the same time considered by other Journals;
   -  The author guarantees the observance of the rights of all persons (in accordance with the Civil Code of the Russian Federation) who contributed to the research submitted for publication, either by including their names in the number of co-authors, or by expressing gratitude to them on the pages of the materials;
   - The author guarantees the consent of all co-authors with the final version of the materials submitted for publication, and immediately notifies the editors of any errors found in the submitted publication.
  • ethics of reviewing scientific publications;
The reviewer participating in the peer review is required to:
   - provides a review of the manuscript containing motivated criticisms and be guided by the following objective scientific criteria for evaluating the article: compliance with the Journal profile, scientific novelty, completeness and reliability of the research results, relevance, significance, correctness and accuracy of definitions and wording, style, conclusions and make objective and an impartial decision on the possibility of publication, revision or refusal to publish, based on specific facts and the above evidence lstva its decision. The author will be denied publication if he violates any of the ethics points of authorship of scientific publications, of which the reviewer must notify the Editor-in-Chief;
   - keep confidentiality, prevent discussion of work with other persons, with the exception of persons authorized by the editorial board to work with the manuscript of the author, not use the information obtained during the review for personal gain or use unpublished materials in their research;
   - inform the editorial board and abandon the process of examination of the manuscript if, in the opinion of the reviewer, his qualifications are not enough to consider the material submitted for review or in case it is possible to violate the terms for reviewing the manuscript;
   - assist the author in improving the quality of the article, if it is returned for revision, and notify the editorial board that all the noted remarks have been removed and the article can be recommended for publication.
  • ethics of editing scientific publications;
   - in its activities, the editorial board of the journal is responsible for the publication of copyrighted works, following the principles: when deciding on publication, the editorial board is guided by the accuracy of the presentation of data and the scientific significance of the work in question, information or ideas received during editing and associated with possible benefits should be preserved confidential, and not used for personal gain.
    - The editorial board makes a decision on the publication of materials, guided by the following main criteria: the correspondence of the manuscript of the article with the subject of the journal; relevance, novelty and scientific significance of the article;
reliability of results and completeness of conclusions. The quality of the study and its relevance are the basis for the decision to publish; not to allow information to be published if there is sufficient reason to believe that it is plagiarism or a case of multiple publication. The editorial board accepts the recommendations of reviewers (if their decisions on the article coincide) when making the final decision on the publication of the article. Responsibility for the decision to publish lies with the editorial board of the journal. 

   - The editorial board reserves the right to edit articles, while maintaining the scientific content of the author's version. The editors reserve the right to reduce and correct accepted work.
  • ethics of publishing scientific publications

   - The main Editor reads and signs the ready-made original layout of the next issue of the magazine, after which the original layout is handed over to the printing house, and notifications are sent to all authors about the acceptance of their articles for publication; at the same time, the original layout of the magazine is displayed on the official website of the Journal;
   - after the circulation leaves the printing house, the author sends out the magazines through the Rospechat system within the next two days;
   - if typos are found, the editorial office in the next issue indicates the place of the typo and the correct option.
